At Witkop Fluorspar Mine (Proprietary) Limited, we believe that all injuries and occupational illnesses can be prevented and that safety is a fundamental responsibility of each employee of the Company. We also believe that safety and occupational health must be thoroughly integrated with our effort to produce high quality products at competitive prices. Therefore, for the well being of all employees and as a matter of policy:


Management will as far as reasonably practicable …

Ensure commitment to comply with current applicable legislation;
Promote safety on and off the job;
Implement accident prevention programs, systems and techniques; and
Provide a work environment in which identified occupational health and safety hazards are controlled when elimination is not feasible;
Ensure the health and safety of non-employees entering the mine premises.


Facility Managers will as far as reasonably practicable …

Ensure commitment to comply with current applicable legislation;
Be responsible and accountable for a superior level of safety performance;
Institute work practices, which reflects safe and efficient methods for accomplishing the required tasks;
Correct deficiencies promptly, either through modifying facilities, changing procedures, improving employee training, or through constructive and consistent discipline; and
Educate and train employees regarding hazards on the job.


All Employees will as far as reasonably practicable …

Be expected to perform their jobs in the safest manner prescribed;
Be expected to conduct them in a way that enhances their personal safety and that of their fellow workers;
Be encouraged to report workplace hazards and make suggestions for their control; and
Be expected to cooperate and contribute toward the overall success of the program.
