Witkop Fluorspar Mine (Pty) Ltd acknowledges that water is a scarce natural resource and that its conservation is a critical element in the achievement of sustainable development strategies and is committed to, as far as reasonably practicable.
· Comply with the requirements of the National Water Act, 1998 (Act 36 of 1998) and its Regulations;
· Implement pollution prevention measures at the source, i.e. to eliminate, prevent, minimize and mitigate where no other option is available;
· Where water pollution prevention is not effective, implement re-use and minimization strategies;
· Where water pollution prevention and re-use and minimization strategies are not effective, implement water treatment strategies;
· Strive to limit water-use to a minimum;
· Maintain the water quality with regards to aesthetic/physical and chemical characteristics in the catchment yield
